Pins of Interest

After last weeks Pinterest post, I decided to keep it going and perhaps make it a weekly thing.  Yay or Nay?  Let me know and this might be the last or one of many similar posts in the future.

Some beautiful inspiration for the week:
No. 1 ~ Blue & Gray Living ~ Love this color combo.  It's pretty toned down, but the pop of the sofa, graphic patterned pillows, and other small touches make the room.

No. 2 ~ Vintage Polaroid ~ Some day I'd love to own one of these; working or just for decor purposes, it doesn't matter.  I also love mail air look of the book, and the title reminds me of the Gene Kelly movie (An American in Paris if you didn't know).

No. 3 ~ Vintage Cans Used for Planting ~ For drainage purposes, these would probably need some holes on the bottom, but I love the personality of these cans.

No. 4 ~ Butter and Sauce ~ Mmm yummy! Typography has been more of my recent interests, and I cannot resist this typeface!

No. 5 ~ Paris City Map ~ Great pop of color and graphic print! These also come in other cities around the Europe too.

No. 6 ~ Bokeh Wheel ~ I may or may not have a huge obsession over ferris wheels, other fair rides, and carousels in photography...just maybe.

Until Monday!
Happy Weekend,

Tea Time

{Butterfly Photography, Kimberly Chorney}

The picture above is more my cup of tea than an actual one sadly.  For as long as I can remember, I have never quite enjoyed tea.  In fact, I have never really enjoyed drinking any hot liquid; i.e., coffee, hot chocolate, soup, etc.  I know it all sounds weird, but I would rather drink a smoothie in the dead of winter than drink something hot.  In recent years though, I have tried my best to get over this habit and broaden my taste palette.  I enjoy coffee (if you count the foo-foo kind that's loaded with sugar, syrup, milk, and of course, calories), hot chocolate, and some teas now, but they have to be at room temperature almost.  To me, that's when you can really taste the flavors and not just scolding hot water.  Either way, I still long to be a member of the tea party...

Five reasons I would like to pick up the habit of drinking tea :
1.  I love scones and tea sandwiches ~ definitely would justify making them more
2.  Health benefits ~ sickness would be so much easier to combat
3.  I would have an excuse to buy pretty teacups and other fancy tea gadgets and accessories
4.  I always feel left out when people want to go to The Tea Room or other tea only establishments
5.  I think it would be quite fun ~ perhaps I never got out of my dress up tea party stage as a child, plus a piece of me has always longed to be British...

I'm really not kidding about that #3 by the way, and here is a lust list to prove it.
Proper Decor-um :
No. 1 ~ Buttermilk Scones Dress ~ ModCloth
No. 2 ~ Knot2much2ask Spot of Tea Pendant Necklace ~ via Max & Chloe
    No. 3 ~ One-Lump-Or-Two Lamp ~ Anthropologie
No. 4 ~ L by Lenox "Floral Waltz" Tea Saucer & Tea Cup ~ via Bloomingdale's
No. 5 ~ Vintage Three Tier Cake Stand ~ I Love Retro via BOUF

Tea for Two :
No. 6 ~ Blueberry Sour Cream Scone Mix ~ Stonewall Kitchen or make from scratch using this Tyler Florence Recipe
No. 7 ~ Caramel Sundae Escape Tea ~ Talbott Teas
No. 8 ~ Lemon Curd ~ Stonewall Kitchen
No. 9 ~ McVities Rich Tea Biscuits ~ Amazon ~ can't get much more British than this, thus it is completely necessary to at least try them

Perhaps if I start acting the part, a love of tea will just come naturally.  I'll work on my decor-um and one day have the perfect little tea for two.  Does anyone else out there share my sentiments?

Sorry about the late post today.  Blogger has been down for awhile and has been doing some funny things. Kinda upset that it's deleted some things from my page, but hopefully I can restore most of it back to the way it was by Monday.

As always, have a great weekend,

The Simple Life

Ah, a day well spent going grocery shopping and baking up a storm as I listen to some of my favorite tunes.  I can't say it was anything as glamorous as depicted by Audrey, but it was a good day nonetheless.  I can't wait to share these goodies with my family tomorrow when we celebrate my dad's birthday.
Until then, I'll be out soaking up the sun, reading a book, and sipping on some lemonade.
I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful day as much as I am!

Happy Earth Day & Easter Weekend

If you didn't know, today is Earth Day.  To celebrate, I'm leaving you with two nature pics from my favorites on Flickr.  Just a reminder to take a moment today to appreciate your natural surroundings.

Have a great Easter (or just general) weekend!  See you back here on Monday!

Creative Food Styling

These photos come from a Swedish IKEA cookbook called Homemade is Best.  I stumbled upon them today when looking for new recipe books.  Aren't they interesting? I wish I could land my hands on a copy of the entire book to see how all the ingredients were styled.  Very creative. The photographs were taken by Carl Kleiner and the ingredients were styled by Evelina Bratelle.

Anyone know if you can get a copy in English?
