Mmmm Macaroons...

I'll take at least one of each (including the poster)! This print from Lucile's Kitchen is almost as good as the real thing.  Buy it and/or see how it's made here.

Oh and boyfriend has tipped me off that he might be with macaroons in hand when I see him next!  I am such a lucky girl, aren't I?  What a great thought to start my weekend off with :)

Mathiole

Recall that amazing picture from last Friday's post? Well, the artist is a 20-something designer / illustrator from Brazil by the name of Mathiole.  Mathiole's work can be seen here as well as on many Threadless t-shirts.  Browse below at some of my other favorite's by this designer:

I really enjoy the retro vibe of a lot of his work and his use of bold vibrant colors, don't you?

Type City Cleveland

Type City Cleveland first started in 2007 as a class project for students at the Cleveland Institute of Art.  The instructions from their professor, Chris Ramsay, go a little something like this:

1. Choose a Cleveland venue (unique to the city, no chains)
2. Choose a typeface that represents that venue in all aspects including mood and atmosphere (all typefaces are purchased from Veer)
3. Create the venue by using the characters of the typeface selected

If it sounds easy, you are mistaken.  This is an intense time consuming creative challenge, and each piece gets judged by graphic designers, architects, typographers, and illustrators to select some of the best piece each year.

Let's Get Graphic - the British Way

Well bloody bugger to you, you beastly bastard.

One of my new favorite quotes from the Oscar winning picture, The King's Speech.  I might have been a touch late on seeing the film, but it was well worth the wait.  It's amazing that such a film was going to earn a R rating just from a few extra choice f words before production cut them out.

Anyway, if you must know, I am obsessed over almost all things British.  I probably would have gotten around to this post eventually, but being as I just saw The King's Speech an all, I was inspired to do it sooner rather than later (and it most likely won't be the last time).  Let's get graphic the British way shall we...
